This phenomenal set of what I call "old Hobe" is probably from the late 1930s. Miriam Haskell used similar elements and the same construction in her pieces, but rarely if ever did Haskell use such sophisticated quality findings so early, such as the delicate but strong locking clasp on this brooch. All three pieces are in excellent condition and marked Hobe. The brooch measures 1 & 7/8 by 1 & 3/8 inches; the earrings and 1 & 1/2 by 1 & 1/8 inches. They wind right up the outer ear--way before the "ear cuff" came along. A beautiful set for the collector of jewels of legendary splendor!
