An antique Victorian gold filled brooch, measuring 1 & 1/2 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide. The brooch is set with three Scottish agate cabochon stones, the two on the left ,somewhat the same taupe colour ,and the third stone a yellow earthy tone. The stones have depth. They convey a quality that you won't find today in new jewellery. Perhaps they were chosen for this quality. The fashion of wearing agate stones found in Sottish highland streams and cut and polished and made into jewellery was popularized by Queen Victoria, who loved Scotland and wore her own collection of Scottish agate jewellery. The condition of this brooch is good. There are some inclusions in the stones ,but no damage. The setting is sturdy. The clasp functions well. It's a lovely little jewel!
