A pair of antique 19th Century Italian 18 Kt rose gold earrings ,with a silver overlay, set with rose cut diamonds and large genuine blister pearls. The earrings are from the period 1850 to 1900. Though there is no identifying mark to date them, the silver overlay and style is from the mid to end of the 19th Century. The earrings are hand made and custom designed. They are set with 22 (.75 carats) rough natural "Indian Face" diamonds,( the provenance being India.) There are neither hallmarks nor metal stamps, but they have been tested and appraised by a certified gemologist. The earrings are styled in the Mid-Late Victorian fashion, complete with "Pierced Ear" flat notched posts and hinged "spanish clip" type retainers. They are superbly crafted and strong and the mechanism is secure.
The two "blister" pearls have a beautiful "silver rose" colour .
The earrings measure 1 & 2/8 of an inch long and 5/8 of an inch wide. They weigh 13.20 grams. The previous owner lived in Naples, Italy and these earrings are what a wealthy woman of the time wore. You can imagine her seated in the Duomo with her black Spanish fan fluttering while she listened to the Mass.
