My home is decorated in the Neoclassical style. As I was photographing these earrings with my furnishings in the background, it occurred to me how well they fit in with my home - ornate and gilded. Hence the name. These earrings are reminiscent of the high carat gold, handcrafted jewels that the ancient Greco-Roman women may have worn. This is why I love Vermeil, (24K Gold over Sterling Silver).
After handcrafting the coiled head pins, I dropped a multitude of faceted Chrysoprase from the beautifully scrolled Vermeil drops. The Chrysoprase are especially nice because they have subtle color variations, which always represents a natural gem stone. The drops have 5mm bezel set pearls. At the bottom of each earring hangs 7 x 8mm Freshwater Keishi, (aka 'Petal'), pearls. The earrings drop 30cm, (1 1/4"), from the bottom of the 14K Gold Filled Ear wires, and are approximately 13mm, (1/2'),wide. I will include the clear plastic ear nuts for extra security. I slide my ear nuts all the way up behind my ear so that they are not visible. These earrings are exquisite in their details and look VERY expensive. They are very dainty, but they also stand out.
