Extremely RARE, the extravagance of this delightfully costumed doll mimics the fashions of the 18th century and could be found in many of the costume films of the 1920/30's. Norma Shearer as Marie Antoinette could easily be imagined to wear such a lavish outfit. The dress is in remarkable condition studded with pink ribbon roses and scads of lace and metallic lace. Her original jewelry remains on her individual fingers as well as bracelets and necklaces. Her original hairstyle is done in white mohair to emulate the powdered wigs of the era. There is some flocking missing on her face due to her age but her all original paint is intact. The end of one of the ostrich feathers in her hat has broken off. None of this detracts from this remarkable doll. Everything on this doll is original. She measures 40" long. She may also be found on page 54 of Susanna Oroyan's "Dolls of the Art Deco Era".
