Shown here is a Sterling Silver (tested .925) vintage Chinese large scale and large finger size ring with a molded art glass faux carnelian “stone”. The design on the long oval glass cabochon is two lotus blossoms; the design is pierced and is a perfect imitation of a deeply carved carnelian stone cabochon. This vintage ring was made in China during the 1920’s.
The burnt orange colors are also in imitation of real carnelian colors; the variegated glass is translucent producing a glowing effect in transmitted light. The ring has four double claws holding the cabochon in place. The sterling ring’s shoulders each have a detailed applied design of five stems, 4 with a single leaf on the tips and the center stem has a single poppy blossom. The condition of both the faux carnelian and the sterling setting is very good. There are no chips of scratches anywhere on the piece.
