Offered here for your consideration is an artistic Japanese Damascene bracelet (sometimes called Komai Shakudo) with classic scenes and images depicting the tranquility of Japanese art and culture. The blackened steel panels are inlaid with fine silver and bright gold designs. The precious metal artwork includes images of birds, flowers (Rose, Lily & Iris), trees (Pine & Willow), sail boats, moons, pagodas, cottages, water scenes and Mt. Fuji. This beautiful bracelet was made in Japan after World War II, circa 1947 to the 1950’s.
Eleven panels are mounted in cut corner rectangular settings of sterling silver. As shown in the photographs these are shallow box settings with the entire panel settings being sterling silver. Nine panel backs are deeply engraved with additional Japanese illustrations. The articulating panels are connected with tube and pin hinges. The hidden closure is a push in “V” spring and box clasp in perfect working condition. There is a sterling silver safety chain to keep it securely on your wrist.
The condition of the entire bracelet is excellent. I see no signs of wear, no chips, scratches, discoloration, or any signs of repairs. The smooth slightly curved edges and back make the bracelet quite comfortable to wear.
Each panel measures: 7/8” X 5/8”
The bracelet weight is: 35.4 Grams
The bracelet length is 7 1/4”
