A beautiful antique Eastlake newel post, salvaged from a home in Philadelphia, and dating from the 1880s. Each side of this boxed newel features a recessed panel with a diamond in its center; the diamond is ornamented with a stylized foliate. The stepped newel cap features a thick, ribbed band below. The newel is in very good condition with some chips, scratches, cracks, and wear consistent with its age (as pictured;) it is also missing a piece of its lower trim. The newel post measures 9-1/4” square and 61-1/2” tall.
