A marvelous antique Eastlake newel post in walnut, salvaged from a home in Philadelphia, and dating from the 1880s. Each side of this boxed newel features incised circles, grooved lines, and beautifully carved floral panels surrounding its cap; its corners are chamfered. The newel is in very good condition with some chips, scratches, cracks, and wear consistent with its age (as pictured;) it is also missing a piece of its lower trim. The newel post measures 8-3/4” square and 48” tall.
