A stunning antique tiger oak fireplace mantel, dating from the early 1900's and salvaged from a home in Nashville, TN. The mantel is crowned with a substantial shelf ornamented with egg-and-dart and leaf-and-dart bands; the shelf is supported by two ionic columns which run down the length of the mantle. An oval mirror surrounded with foliate embellishments perches above the mantle's lower shelf; the shelf is beautifully carved with a flowing guilloche pattern and is supported with three grooved brackets. The fireplace mantel is in very good condition with the expected wear (as pictured.) It measures 59-1/2” wide, 81-1/4” tall, and projects 13”. The firebox opening is 41-5/8” wide and 38-3/4” tall.
