Offering, a very rare little book from France of the late 1800's.
This is a pocket size book of poetry from; La Petite Collection Rose published by the Librairie Lemerre in Paris, France. It measures 3" X 4 1/2".
The subject is the poetry of A. Brizeux and the title of the booklet is: MARIE. There are 117 pages and all are complete with many of the tops of pages still not separated from the following page. No tears, just deep yellowing on the hand cut papers.
There is no printing date in the booklet. The spine is bound in soft brown morocco and the leather is crumbling a bit. The spine is still tight and both covers are solid. There is a small piece of leather off the top and bottom of the spine.
The book has a sweet smell...not the musty odor normally associated with old books. This little book came from the estate of my great aunt. She had six of these Petite Collection Rose booklets which she purchased in an antiquarian bookstore in Paris.
