Offering an antique mid 19th century embroidered silk Chinese panel, framed in wood and under glass.
The frame (from the 1960's) is a gold painted simulated bamboo wood and measures 19" X 32". One corner joint is a bit loose and needs a nail. The glass that covers the embroidered panel is in excellent un-fogged, un-cracked condition.
Inside the wood frame is a 2" wide black mat. The embroidered silk panel within that area measures 26" X 13".
The panel is formed from three individual pieces.
First, there is the cream silk picture panel of vases and birds and various ornamental planters, all represented in the Chinese Forbidden Seed Stitch outlined in gold metallic thread.
Surrounding this field and framing it, is a hand embroidered ribbon with representational dragon heads.
Further framing the scene, is a wide black silk band, embroidered with silver blue flowers interspersed with floral outlines in gold metallic thread.
The whole artwork in in excellent condition barring the slightly loose corner joint on the wood frame.
