Offering a vintage, Mid Century Galaxy light, gold toned aluminum and teak fixture.
This wonderful Modernist chandelier features five cone shaped aluminum cylinders with double bulbs. The cylinders have a round bulb on top, and another bulb inside the cone. The metal cone is reticulated with small holes that diffuse the light, creating a glowing pattern in the dark.
Each cone is attached to the neck of the fixture by an aluminum bar, in a space age, influenced pattern. The chandelier features a long metal neck (accented with teak) that connects to the ceiling cap. The turn on/off switch is underneath the teak neck on the bottom (see photos).
I believe the metal is aluminum (as fixtures during this period were made from this metal), but the cones and bars are a bright shiny gold.
This ceiling fixture is in excellent condition. The teak wood has no cracks or chips, and the aluminum remains bright and shiny with no rusting or scratching. There is some minor spotting to the silver metal on top of each cone, but is nothing major (see photos).
This is a working fixture that I personally took down (so the wiring is still okay), but there is no ground wire because fixtures during this time did not have one. I have four, of the original five glass shades that go on top of each cone. They have a few fleabites along the outer rims, but there are no cracks or stains (see photos). If you want them, I will send them with the fixture.
Measurements (approximate): 35 1/2” tall (base of cone to top of ceiling cap) and 22” across. Each cone measures 8 1/4” tall (base to top) and 4 1/2” in diameter.
Thank you for stopping!
