Offering an antique SAFI made Tagine / Tajine cooking pot from Morocco.
This pottery and metal decorated conical roofed stew pot, is hand made and hand painted. The primary colors are blue, green, yellow and red. I think the metal is brass and it is stamped with ornate designs.
This Tajine is really a wonderful work of art. There are no cracks or chips, which in itself is remarkable because this was a pot for everyday use and not a decoration. There is age appropriate surface wear and signs of its hand made, North African origins. On the rim of the bowl rim there is an out of place drip of white paint. The body paint itself is somewhat primitive and the brass darkened with age. There are some dents on the round piece at the top.
The assembled tagine measures about 10" in height and another 10" in diameter.
