Offering a wonderful, vintage umbrella from pre-war Japan. This umbrella and another one I have, were brought back to the US by returning missionaries before the start of WWII.
The umbrella is made completely of paper, bamboo and string. It measures 27 1/2" in length and when opened, the diameter is 30".
The handle is a rod of bamboo, and the paper was hand painted with Japanese lanterns.
Most amazing is that this umbrella has no damage at all. No rips, stains or broken spokes. It was stored away and survived the decades looking as fresh as when it was purchased.
