Offering an 18th century Manganese Blue ceramic tile from Bristol England.
This wood framed tile measures almost 6" square. The visible tile itself measures about 4 3/4" X 5".
The hexagonal center is painted in blue and shows a scene near the water with three sailing ships coming into view. The edges are done in manganese purple and each corner has a carnation flourish.
This beautiful tile, circa 1750 - 1790, has surface crazing but no repairs or cracks through the surface.
