Offering a vintage silver marcasite ring with an onyx or jet face.
This came from my great aunt's estate and I don't know where or when she purchased it.
The ring face measures 1 1/2" in length and covers the knuckle of the ring finger. The ring size is a 7.
I am not sure whether this stone is a piece of polished jet or a large flat piece of black onyx. The marcasite that surrounds it is very tiny and glittery.
The ring face is supported by an unusual scooped wall, that dips down on each side to raise the face from the surface of the finger.
The silver of this ring has been tested and is sterling, however, the ring does not appear to be marked (that I can see) except for two barely visible initials on the inner band.
This is a beautiful, elegant ring, large but not too showy. The scooped mount enables the finger to bend easily although the face covers the knuckle.
No damage. I think this ring is older than it looks (because she died at almost 100 and most of her things are quite old) however, none of us know when she got it or where it was purchased.
