Offering an amazing vintage 1940's Native American made, coin silver bangle.
This heavy bangle weighs in at 52 grams. It was probably made late 1940's - early 1950's as evidenced by the modernist style and use of melted US dimes. Two of the dimes are still visible behind the cabochons of lapis on either side of the bangle.
The bezel mounted lapis lazuli stones used here are magnificent. Dark blue with sparkles of pyrite throughout, they are beautifully domed and polished. The larger cabochons at the center measure about 22mm (about 1") in length. This is world class lapis lazuli.
The bangle measures 2 1/2" across the inside (from side to side) and about 1 3/4" front to back. The opening between the two ends is 1".
There is no structural damage, just some light tarnish from long storage.
This belonged to my great aunt and my family says it was made by a Navajo artisan and presented to her as a gift. The bangle is not marked in any way except for the remains of two silver dimes at the back, so I can't say for sure.
