2 Vintage 1940's Kitchen Dish Towels Printed Aunt Jemima & Embroidered Rooster
Offering a pair of vintage 1940's cotton dish towels.
The first charming towel is a printed piece showing a black mammy cooking in the kitchen. The blue border at the bottom is not printed on but sewn.
The towel measures 15" across and 26" in length. The fabric is a bleached cotton. Nice for a collector of Black Americana.
The colors are lightly faded, but the towel has no tears or major stains. There are a few small age dots like foxing on paper. The fabric still has good body and is not limp and worn out.
The second dish towel is a huge square of white, flour sack type cloth that measures 36" X 35". On the portion that would hang down if this were over a rack, is a large, hand-embroidered red rooster with a bright sun in the background. The handiwork is all stitched and there are appliques on the parts of the rooster.
No tears or stains on these wonderful old dish towels.
