Offering a small hard cover book featuring the Charles Dickens novel, Dombey & Son.
This book was published in 1867 by Ticknor and Fields, Charles Dicken's American publishers. Dickens was still alive at the time of this printing!
The book measures about 6" X 4 1/2" and has green cloth covering the boards. Both back and front have an intaglio of Dicken's head but the front cover has it in gold.
The cover is bumped and worn especially at the top and bottom of the spine. Spine is solid but pulling away a bit.
Inside, all the pages are present but somewhat yellowed and foxed. Two of the illustration plates are loose. A couple of tissue guards are torn.
The front fly has an endearing inscription in light pencil. It says: To Laura Burnton from Mr. Dafter, Rector of St Pauls Church, Fond Du Lac Wisconsin. As a prize for having her catechism lessons perfect for 1 year.
This book has age appropriate wear considering it's 145 years old.
