Offering a Standard Dictionary of the English Language Upon Original Plans. Funk & Wagnalls Company, New York and London 1898.
This dictionary is very rare and very old. It is not in the best shape and if it weren't so rare I might not have offered it.
The front and back boards have fallen away from the dictionary.
There is wear throughout, with some marked and creased pages, tears, yellowing, foxing, folds and staining.
A small number of the pages have detached from the binding but as far as I can tell, the pages are all present. The pages are generally very readable and in fair condition for their age.
Numerous full color plates. There are over 2300 pages and the tome weighs almost 20 lbs.
On the first pages the word DISCARDED is stamped, so I think this belonged to a library originally.
Inside the front board, it is noted that the dictionary was purchased for 25 cents in 1964.
This antique book is huge, measuring 12 ½" X 9 ½" X 5". This sort of reference is a wonderful tool for historians and writers, as it contains hundreds of words that are no longer used today.
Postage is free but it via insured media mail. If you would prefer some another option, like priority, you will have to pay for that service.
