Offering a vintage, heavy, bronze wall sculpture, made in Hong Kong.
My aunt who worked in China for a period, purchased this in the late 1950's - early 1960's. This large piece weighs almost 15 lbs and measures almost 2' across (from tip of horse nose to end of spear) and 14" from top to bottom. On the back of the spear, stamped into the brass is: Made in Hong Kong.
The subject is a Chinese warrior, dressed in traditional style, riding a galloping horse and brandishing a very long spear - sword. The warrior is attacking, and the movement and speed of the moment is well captured in this sculpture. Even the face of the horse shows the excitement of the battle.
This large heavy piece is detailed and beautifully designed. There is no structural damage. The green oxidation on the back is from the welding around the bronze hook that it hangs on. There is no corrosion on the piece itself, just bits of oxidation here and there.
