What a wonderful smiling character baby this is with a wobble tongue. She has a bisque socket head on her original 5 piece bent leg baby body. The body was made by the German Company of Kammer & Reinhardt who commissioned their heads from the Simon & Halbig Company. Circa late 1800s.
Baby is a nice big chunky 21” tall and wears an exquisite Christening gown. All ready to display.
You will be absolutely enchanted by this sweet character face. It will make you smile every time you look at it. A Little History of this mold number 126 with the baby body is known as Mein Leibling's Baby or My Darling's Baby.
Her bisque socket head has NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs. There are wig pulls around the upper rim from someone carelessly removing her wig. Bisque is smooth and creamy with lovely soft, glowing complexion and very rosy, full pouty cheeks with one light spot on the side of right cheek.
MARKED K & R (& inside a star) SIMON & HALBIG 126 50
Her big, bright blue sleep eyes work well. Upper and lower lashes are finely painted. Brows are perfectly painted in long, layered strokes.
Lips on her open mouth are painted peachy pink color with a tremble tongue and two tiny upper teeth showing.
Her upper lip is very pouty with a deep philtrum below her cute little pug nose with well placed accent dots in the nostrils. She has a pudgy double chin with a soft dimple. Modeling around her mouth is very well done giving her a sweet smiling expression. Wig is her original bright auburn mohair one that looks to have had some trimming, but is nice and full and in very good condition. The original cardboard pate is also present.
Original 15 piece composition body is in good condition with minor restoration on a couple of toes and fingers and fanny. It has more of a matte finish with the expected scuffs from play.
She is wearing a gorgeous antique Christening gown that is about 36” long with open work lace trimmed neckline, and big ruffles around the bodice, shoulders and cuffs. Bottom of skirt has inserted lace and a wide hem.
Bonnet is a really lovely old organdy one in very nice condition with a very wide ruffle and two layers of lace around the inside brim. It ties with satin ribbons. There are a couple of small mends on the big ruffle.
Undies include a lovely antique white cotton slip with lace hem that is almost as long as the gown, flannel panties and hand crocheted pink booties. She carries her favorite silver baby spoon and comes with a pink satin flowered blankie.
