This is a 27" antique German bisque head doll. She is a big beautiful girl by J.D. Kestner with 'real' brows. Research indicates that the open slits where hair could be inserted to appear as real brows was the idea of Louis Steiner in 1910, but the patent was give to George Borgfeldt who represented the J.D. Kestner Co.
Marked: Made in/ 'H. Germany 12./ 196
This girl has deep brown sleep eyes that work well and have all of the original wax on lids intact.
Delicately painted lower lashes. Her brows are open slits that have inserted hair that has worn off from the backing over the years. Someone in the past used a marker or pencil to darken the material in the slits. She would have had upper lashes originally which have also worn off over time. She has full, well blushed cheeks, with NO rubs, only a tiny scratch on the right cheek. Open mouth with four pearly upper teeth showing. Lips are shaded and outlined in deep pink with matching nose dots.
Her bisque head has NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs. There are two very tiny wig pulls on left forehead.
Her lovely brunette human hair wig is her original. It has a few thin spots so I used a curling iron on it to make the pretty ringlets which discretely covered the thin areas. She has a pure silk mauve bow in her hair which compliments her lovely complexion.
Her 15 piece, ball jointed, composition body is also her original. It has been tightly restrung and has overall repaint and some restoration of joints and neck opening.
She has beautifully articulated hands and fingers with NO repairs.
She is dressed in one of my best antique gowns.. It's a really gorgeous antique sheer white cotton lawn dress with lace bodice, puffy sleeves with wide lace cuffs, very full skirt with wide ruffled, pin tucked and lace trim around the bottom. It is very delicate and has a couple of mends and some pin holes overall. I left it draping straight down, but you can also tie it with a ribbon sash if you prefer. I have lots of silk ribbon and will include some if you let me know what color you like.
Her undies include a pink cotton onesie, white cotton petticoat with open work ruffled hem, white ribbed stockings and an antique pair of white oil cloth shoes with loops over white buttons and replaced buckles on the toes. They have had some restoration, but are in good useable condition.
She picked out a lovely antique bar pin with a rhinestone in the center. All of my dolls carry an antique hanky. This one is sheer white cotton with pretty embroidery on the corners.
She will also bring along her favorite little boyds kitty wearing a mauve sweater and white hat.
