Stunning and heavy sterling silver cup made in 1914 to commemorate a yachting event or race. Four wonderful enameled flags are flying on the top of the cup and 3 names are engraved on the top, and then its date of 1914 is also engraved. This heavy sterling piece weighs 9.065 troy ounces (282 grams). The cup measures 5 1/2" across, including the handle. The circular top is 3 1/4" in diameter and the height is 3 1/2". The condition is very good, just a couple of slight dings along the base edge. It has survived very well all these years.

This is a very special piece - custom made with great craftsmanship. The piece is stamped on the bottom "AVA, Hecho en Mexico, and 925". It also has another number on the handle. I have seen a large silver bowl online by this maker, AVA, and it went for a lot in auction, but I need to see if I can find out more. Likewise, I would love to know more about this beautiful cups significance. But for now, those who love sailing, racing, regattas, and wonderful silver will love it.
