There's nothing like a great name in anything, and Meissen is one of those great names. Meissen has been around for 300 years, they produced this lovely inkwell around 1890. It has the Meissen crossed swords mark on the bottom. It measures 2 3/4" across and 2" high. The pattern is in beautiful 2 tone blue with red accents and gold trim on the edges and the gold also outlines the flowers and birds in the pattern.
The piece is a single - they are often seen in pairs for different color inks in a desk set. Personally I like the single and this particular pattern is especially nice. The condition is very good.
