Here's a big beautiful Victorian bangle with a central garnet surrounded small diamonds and flanked by half cut pearls on either side. It dates from around 1880. It is 14k gold and has a large octagonal step cut garnet in the center. Six small mine cut diamonds surround the center stone and there are a total of 16 half cut pearls. It is beautifully made, has good weight, and has that sturdy feel you want in a fine piece of jewelry.
The piece measures 2 3/4" across by 2 1/4" wide. The center section is just over 5/8" high. The opening on the inside is 2 1/8" by 1 3/4", so it is for a smaller wrist size. The bangle is hinged and has a good strong clasp. A safety chain can be easily added from the 2 small rings on either side of the clasp, which are original to the piece.
It gets harder and harder to find good clean examples of antique jewelry - no repairs or flaws here. I am so pleased to have found it.
