Here's a wonderful baby rattle with Little Bo Peep from around 1900. The teething ring is 2 1/4" across, and with the bells the total length is 3 1/2". The mother of pearl teething ring is both carved to follow the lines of Bo Peep, and also beautifully engraved to show the words "Little Bo Peep lost her sheep" and the detail of Bo Peep, complete with crook and pretty clothing. The 2 bells are sterling and marked as such, and they ring very well.
The condition is not perfect. There is a chip on the back of the ring in the mother of pearl, as seen in the photo, and it shows slightly from the front. Plus the bells which are made in 2 sections have split a bit where the join is. However, this is a hard piece to find. I really think it is quite wonderful. It's too rare not be be bought as it is, and it is priced accordingly.
