Here's a very charming artist made miniature ceramic by Basil Mathews. Basil Mathews was born in Wales, early in the 20th century and opened his own studio in the late 1940's. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Member of the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers, and Fellow of the Society of Design Craftsmen. He even received the endorsement of Queen Mary of England. He died in 1985.

He liked doing renderings of animals This pig group was done a number of times, but his work was never mass produced and each piece was hand done and limited to under 100 pieces. As they were hand done, they are always slightly different. The mother and children pig group is adorable and fun. There is so much going on it this 3" by 2" area. The colors, which were hand painted, are in lovely subtle tones.

This pig ceramic was done around the early 1970's. It is in excellent condition, and clearly it's a must have for pigophiles to be sure.
