Here's a really handsome, good size English stamp box made around 1890. It's 5 1/4" long and a little under 2 1/4" high. The top is made of what's known as Hertfordshire Pudding Stone. It's a natural formation of small stones in a matrix. It creates a lovely patchwork sort of design. The sides are Bird's Eye Maple and the interior containing four compartments for stamps is lined in a contrasting lighter wood.
The condition is very good - the box opens when you press in the outside button. It's different, great looking and would stand out in a box collection or on its own.
This exciting store is an eclectic "Curiosity Shop" for the Lover of wonderful old things.
