Here's a really great looking trophy for Mixed doubles in Tennis at the Rebo Valley Club in Bar Harbor, Maine from 1904. It's 5 1/2" high and 7" across from the outside of the 2 handles. The Rebo Valley Club is one of the oldest clubs in America, and very elegant. The trophy is made of pewter and copper and has really nice lines. There's beautiful detail on the central crest for the club, lovely decoration on the handles. It is marked "Meriden" for the Connecticut Maker.
It has one flaw, a fairly shallow dent to the right of the crest. It could be taken out, but let's just say it adds to the character and doesn't really detract from the piece. In the good old days you really got good trophies even for second prize like this one. It's a really nice piece of sports memorabilia.
This exciting store is an eclectic "Curiosity Shop" for the Lover of wonderful old things.
Lots of variety and a wide range of prices is what we offer. I think it's more fun that way!
