Here's a wonderful adjustable gold filled bracelet from 1901, and in its original box. This lovely expandable bracelet is beautifully made and features a heart in its center. It was called "The Carmen adjustable bracelet" patented in first in 1890 and again in 1901 (when this bracelet was made). It was made by The D.F. Briggs Company of Attleboro, Massachusetts. The box and the bracelet itself both give the maker's name and the name of the particular bracelet style.
Even though the bracelet expands, it was made for a small wrist - perhaps for a child. It measures 1 5/8" across the inside opening when it is not stretched out. The condition is great with just a few slight scratches to the front of the heart - but not too noticeable. The piece is really in good condition for its age as well as the wonderful box with its red velvet plush covering inside and out and trimmed in gold.
