William Cullen Bryant lived from the late 18th century to the mid 19th century. He was an American romantic poet, journalist, naturalist, long-time editor of the New York Evening Post, and a lawyer as well. His was instrumental in the creation of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and Central Park as well. In fact, a NYC park is named after him - Bryant Park. This is a heavy brass paperweight in the form of this great man. It measures 3 3/4" by 3" at the widest part. It has a strong spring action and the overall condition of the letter clip is very good. I've had many letter clips over the years, many you see often, this is one I've never seen before.
If you buy this you can celebrate this man of letters by keeping some of your letters with him.
