Here's a wonderful hand colored print from Godey's Magazine of Philadelphia dating from December of 1862 during the Civil War era. The print is entitled "Godey's Fashions for December 1862". Five stunning brides stand with two little girls attending. Although a war was underway, life did go on as this print with such lavishness can attest to. The image itself is 11 1/4" by 9 1/4" and the frame is 16 1/4" by 14 1/4". The condition of the print is excellent and the frame ( which is a 20th century one) is very good as well. The gilded frame and matting are very nice and add a lot of richness to the print. The hand coloring which was done at the time is very restrained and has little red and green touches to compliment the season.
