Here's a piece of collectible early souvenir ware known as crested ware. Known for the crest on each, these beautifully made porcelain pieces are made in a great variety of forms. This one, by W.H.Goss the most collectible name in crested ware, is of a cannon. It is 3 3/4" long and on the back of the cannon it reads," Model of ancient cannon found on the beach at Blackgang Chine 1W" - then it has the registration number - Rd. 554472.
The crest on the front is from Wellington, Somerset - a lovely small town in the West Country of England. The cannon they refer to was found in Blackgang Chine on the coast of the Isle of Wight.
I've priced this to sell - so come and get it . A nice little gift for him.
