Made by Podmore Walker this Blue Transferware Plate is the Ivanhoe pattern. It has an incised mark Pearl Stone Ware and the company logo PW& Co. This size would probably be a fruit or dessert plate. This mark dates between 1834 and 1859.To me these early patterns take the viewer to a magic place, some with a castle and stream. I often wonder about how ladies picked out their patterns. Was it that spot they so wish to go to or spend an afternoon with your lover? I guess you can tell, I love these early transfer patterns, particularly in this light blue tone.
DIMENSIONS: 7 ¾” in diameter
