This wonderful circa 1900 Sweet Grass Pin Cushion Basket is colored with Natural Dyes. I purchased this here in northern New Hampshire. I have seen this style of basket called Shaker, but I believe it to be Native American Indian. Perhaps Penobscot Maine, or Mohawk from New York State.
The basket is perfect, with no breaks or damage. Given it’s age this is a testament to its construction. There is a similar basket to this one in the book, Sewing Tools and Trinkets. If you key in sweet grass into the search bar at the top right of the page and high light my shop you will see all the sweet grass items I have for sale.
DIMENSIONS: 1 ¾” across bottom X 2 1/8” across top X 1 ¼” tall
