This wonderful rare Victorian New England Abenaki basket is in the shape of an Acorn. The bottom is woven in the traditional folded Abenaki points. So many times I come across these early baskets and the points are in rough shape, many broken. Gratefully this one is in excellent condition. The original sweet grass woven lid does have one area in the very center that has a bit of damage.

The Abenaki Indians are Northeastern tribes collectively called Wabanaki; including Abenaki in Vermont - Maliseet, MicMac, Passamaquoddy and Penobscot of Maine and Eastern Canada. What we refer to as "Indian corn" today, a heritage crop, has kernels of various colors on the cob.

DIMENSIONS: 5” diameter on top X 5 ½” in length

CONDITION: in very nice vintage condition.

Payment expected at time of purchase for single item purchases - I would be happy to help set up a layaway plan that works for you and me
