I am so delighted to offer you this extraordinarily hard to find Wedgwood Majolica Sardinia Sardine Box with Cover circa 1875. The body of the piece is molded as a black and white planked shipping boat. The handles are formed at each end with fishing nets brimming with the catch of the day. Sardinia is inscribed on the bow end of the boat. The top or cover, which is also black and white striped has an anchor and rope forming the handle. On the inside and bottom you will note a sticker from the Micheal Strawser Auction House. They are the number one auction house in America for Majolica. If they accept a piece it is "worthy." This is most worthy and in gorgeous condition. I have recently bought a nice collection of Majolica. Included is a rare Victorian Spoon Warmer. The last photo shows you some of this collection. Use the search box (top right) key in Majolica and click on Bonnie Boswell Antiques to see all my pieces.
