We have 2 of these Vintage Dryden Tin Glaze Arts and Crafts Green Fish Plates. The Dryden company began business in Ellsworth, Kansas. The color of the clay used in their Kansas plant was this buff sand color. In the mid 1950’s they moved to Hot Springs Arkansas, the clay used there is white. When they moved to Arkansas they changed to focus of their business from quality art pottery pieces like these plates, to tourist focused gift shop pick up items. These plates were made between 1946 and 1956. They have both been hand signed on the bottom. The signature of Dryden was done by 2 different persons as the signatures show in the pictures. The dark arts and crafts green color used is further enhanced by the tin glaze. This gives them a much earlier American Majolica look. They will fit in with a Majolica collection and would be smashing in an Arts and Crafts home.
DIMENSIONS: 10 ¾” long x 9 ¾” tall
