This Vintage Rialto Bridge and Gondoliers Photograph is Circa 1900, and is presented in the Original Frame. The Rialto Bridge (Italian: Ponte di Rialto) is one of the four bridges spanning the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. It is the oldest bridge across the canal, and was the dividing line for the districts of San Marco and San Polo. This wonderful original period photograph shows us the bridge in the background. The Grand Canal has 2 docked gondolas and one that is being manned by 2 gondoliers. One is working the oar the other is in the position a singer would take. This photo is hand tinted and presented in its’ original period frame. This is a rare and most wonderful photograph. There were several very famous and good photographers working when this picture was taken. It is not signed so I cannot attribute it to any one person.
We are starting to sell some of our long held back treasures. We all have those items we have long held on to and thought we will never sell "that." It's time to start clearing out so our daughters aren't overwhelmed and end up thinking " they were just nuts!"
DIMENSIONS: Photograph is 19.75” x 15.75” frame 23.75” x 19.75”
CONDITION: We have cleaned the glass and frame and backed the photo with foam core. We have also backed this piece with new backing paper. We chose to do this so add the new foam core and new paper on the backside. You can see in one of the photos what it looked like when it came to us. Clean and fresh backing was very much in order. There is some yellowing in several areas. This is no doubt due to the cardboard that was used to back this piece for so long.
