We are pleased to offer this Vintage Country Life in America dated 1911 with a Hard Board Marbleized Paper Cover. This is just a wealth of period information about America in 1911. Country Life in America was known as the Garden and Farming magazine and was published by Double Day.The main thrust of this issue was how to choose varieties of roses and how and where to grow them. The consulting editor for this issue was Charles Sprague Sargent. In addition to this most interesting collection of articles about roses there are so many wonderful ad's I had a hard time choosing which to take photos of for you. The car ad I chose was for an Oldsmobile. It gives you prices for three of their models; the 4 cylinder "special" cost $3000. The 4 cylinder Autocrat cost $3500 and the Limited 6 cylinder was a whopping $5000! Not yet part of GM it was made by Olds Motor Works. The real estate ads are equally compelling. Homes that would be millions of dollars now were $20,000 then. The real estate ads include estates, castles, in England. Oh where were my ancestors!! The covers are hard board covered with a marbled paper and a linen binding on the edge. This is an interesting read and historically important.
