This Broadcast Seed Sower with Hand Crank "The Cahoon" made by Goodell Comp. Amherst N.H. with an 1861 Patent. It is a wonderful antique piece of early American farm machinery that still works like a charm. The wheel goes around so smoothly, no drag at all. This is a 154 years old piece of equipment and still capable of spreading seeds. The metal plank at the back has a slot on each side that one would thread with a leather strap. I’m not sure if you would wear the strap around your waist or shoulders. If the later, your neck hurt by the end of the day as this is a heavy piece. Whichever way the strap was worn it would ride on your “belly” area. CONDITION: the gears on this item work so well, smoothly, they are perfect. The bag is in good condition with one hole that has been repaired, stitched up. This vintage farm collectible is in very, very nice condition. You will not be disappointed.
