Hand Made Oak Splint Sewing Caddy c. 1855-60
When I found this wonderful box it had small balls of old yarn, some wooden spools of thread and several packages of needles. I have cleaned it out and given the wood a bee's wax buff. It needed it as most wood does on occasion. This lovely oak splint sewing box is made in a fashion like a Shaker piece. Simple splint tacked down with copper tacks. A nice piece for you to decorate with in a country setting.
