Indian Territories Cabinet Card White Man with Indian Wife and Their Child This wonderful cabinet card photograph is marked Ardmore (Oklahoma) Ind. Ter. This mark was for the Independent Territory. The Chickasaw Indians were native to this area as it was being "settled" by white ranchers and farmers. The family shown here is a very young one. The father looks like he may still be a teenager as does the wife. His shoes are very worn The jacket and shirt barely fit him. Her dress is very nice and becoming. I don't know if the child is a girl or a boy. If you look at /his/her outfit with a loop you can see the buttons down the skirt and the belt at the waist. If you look at photographs of Chickasaw Indians this lady very definitely has the face of that tribe. Wonderful and rare cabinet card.
