Rich natural, coral beads are accented with two beautiful cloisonné beads decorated with a dragon motif in luscious turquoise, white, blue and orange and completed with a silver filigree clasp in this vintage Chinese necklace.
From a private collection, this necklace was purchased in Hong Kong in 1971 from an antiques’ dealer. The colors are vibrant, the beads are many, and the two oval cloisonné beads are a large and interesting contrast. The dragon motif holds great interest in and of itself as dragons are a very popular theme in Chinese culture and beyond.
This unusual necklace certainly commands one’s attention. It is a distinctive with the complimentary combination of materials and colors.
The necklace measures approximately 29” in length. The coral beads are approximately* 7.2-5.9mm x5.1mm in a tubular shape. The oval cloisonné beads measure approximately* 1 ½” x 1.” On the underside of the vermeille clasp, we find “silver” stamped.
*approximation is due to the fact that it is difficult to get exact measurements of the beads.
