This is a striking, interesting, dramatic and unusual Gent’s ring in 18k, depicting the Royal Seal of the Kingdom of Laos form 1949-1975. Featured are two back-to-back elephant images with a center elephant. Dragon embellished shoulders complete this dramatic ring. Purchased 44 years ago, in 1973, it is truly a period piece marking 26 years in the history of Laos.
The center piece presents the elephant image in a polished gold against a textured gold background. Under the bezel where the shoulders begin, a textured and polished depiction of the dragon begins wide at the top and tapers down the shank, flanked on either side with polished gold.
Approximate measurements include a 25mm diameter and a top-to-bottom approximate measurement of 30.5mm. Grand in size and scale, this gent’s ring fits a size 10.5-11, on the mandrel, and weighs 20.9 grams.
Under the top, the name “SELECTA” is engraved along with “18K.” SELECTA was Bijouterie-Orfevrerie Lao in Vientiane, Laos, the store from which this ring was purchased in 1973.
