Grand in scale, this spectacular antique Victorian cross is adorned with a calibre cut Persian turquoise pattern that perfectly mirrors the design of the cross. In the center is a cabochon Persian turquoise flower, bursting forth from a foliate pedestal. Very fine decorative elements grace the edge of the horizontal arm of the cross. From the lower embellishments swing 6 articulated square set Persian turquoise dangles. The movement adds an unexpected element of surprise that is quite delightful.
The cross measures 3 1/4” (with the affixed bail, without the O ring) by 2 3/16” by 1/4” deep and weighs 24.5 grams in 14k gold (assayed.) In very good antique condition, there is an age appropriate patina on the reverse interior, which we have not polished.
This antique Victorian gold and turquoise cross is an amazing work of art, as well as a beautiful religious object, and will make a wonderful addition to any fine collection.
