This beautiful antique Edwardian 14k gold mesh evening bag has a fine floral frame set with diamonds and a double cabochon sapphire clasp. It feels wonderful in the hand, as it is hefty and has a very slinky quality to it. The bag measures 6 1/16” by 4 13/16” with a 14.5” chain. Total weight is 191.6 grams. The interior of the bag is marked 14KT. with a maker's mark, possibly an intertwined C and S, along with the numbers 7566. There is a personalization on the top, outside edge of the frame with a date of June 12, 1911. The 6 old cut diamonds weigh approx. 0.48cttw*. In very good antique condition, the purse has a few spots of oxidation, which we have neither cleaned nor polished. There are no holes or damage to either the mesh, frame or clasp (which is in perfect working order.) Undoubtedly owned by a high society lady, this fine Edwardian evening bag has certainly seen many an extravagant soiree in its time and is ready to attend many more!
*approximation is due to the fact that the stone is mounted and exact weights can not be determined.
