Attractive rectangular gold panels comprise this wonderful vintage gold link bracelet. Chinese characters and the four seasons are illustrated in raised polished gold on separate panels, representing a good luck bracelet. Made for export and/or the tourist trade, this is an interesting and easy to wear bracelet. Each panel, connected by 3 gold rings, creates an organic movement to the bracelet when worn. It is loose and comfortable, easily moving with the hand and arm.
There are 8 rectangular panels, 3 of which appear to have the symbol for health. Another panel has the long life symbol and another, the symbol for peace. There are a total of 4 panels representing the 4 seasons, illustrated with the four seasons of bamboo. Only 3 of these are included in the bracelet; the 4th is loose; years ago, it was removed to shorten the length. It has been in a private collection nearly 50 years.
The panels are designed with raised Chinese characters and plant symbols illustrated in highly polished gold on a textured background and each panel is framed with a Greek-key design.
The panels have a gentle curve to them and measure approximately 20mm x 13.5mm. The clasp is stamped “14k and 585.” The bracelet is currently 6.5” in length and could be extended, with the additional panel, or even shortened. If it is a perfect fit, the loose panel would make a very pretty ring.
With the extra link, the gross gram weight is 33.3 grams.
